Lutheran university announces opposition to traditional marriage amendment
On Tuesday a private Lutheran college in Minnesota announced they would not support a state amendment in support of traditional marriage.
“[Augsburg College]… recognizes that this amendment unfairly limits the freedoms of both students and religion alike in Minnesota,” Pastor Grant Stevensen, a member of a group working to defeat this amendment, said in a press release.
“Augsburg’s decision today sends a clear signal that people, communities, and institutions of faith alike are opposing this amendment because of their faith, not in spite of it,” he continued.
The announcement makes the school the first traditional university to publicly come out against the controversial marriage amendment.
Augsburg College did not respond to Campus Reform’s inquires for comment.
