Gay activist Dan Savage, on Thursday, unleashed an obscenity- laced tirade against Family Research Council President Tony Perkins while speaking at an administration-sponsored event.

Gay activist Dan Savage told students that “ever dead gay kid is a victory for the Family Research Council.”

In the presentation at Winona State University (WSU), Savage, an outspoken advocate for the LGBT community, accused Perkins and his organization of actively working to increase suicide among LGBT youth.

“Tony Perkins tells the parents of queer kids to do what Tony Perkins damn well knows drives those kids to suicide,” said Savage.

“[W]hy would someone who calls themselves a Christian do that?” he continued.  “Because every dead gay kid is a victory for the Family Research Council.”

Savage went on to accuse Perkins of  sitting “on a pile of dead gay kids every day when he goes into work and he calls himself a Christian.”

“I don’t understand how real Christians let that little f***er get away with that,” he continued.

The FRC, which describes itself as a champion of “marriage and family as the foundation of civilization” was thrown into the national spotlight earlier in 2012 when it was attacked by a lone gunman who was also a volunteer at the local LGBT center.

Despite Savage’s surprising attack against Perkins and the FRC, WSU administrators as of Thursday remained unapologetic for hosting the event.

Kathleen Peterson, the WSU administrator in charge of the Lyceum Series told LI’s Campus Reform on Thursday they picked Savage because “we believe that he’s an important advocate for the LGBTA community and for simply young people in general to have a place, a safe place, where they can ask natural questions they have about sex and relationships”.

In the speech Savage also attacked former presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.)

"We will always have ignorant **** like Michelle Bachmann and her faggot husband,” he said.

Savage has a history of controversial remarks. Savage made extreme statements about Christianity and the Bible to high school students this past April.
