UPenn named Playboy's top party school in the country

Playboy has named the University of Pennsylvania the top party school in the country.

According to the list of 10 schools released Monday, the criteria for becoming a Playboy top party school includes elements of creativity.

“Yes, an institution worthy of inclusion on our annual list of top party schools still needs to offer numerous and frequent opportunities for collective debauchery,” Playboy Magazine said in its release. “But these days colleges have been offering more creative approaches to partying, along with world-class nightlife and musical events that make the competition even fiercer.”

UPenn took home the prize this year, with Playboy attributing the school’s successful partying to Greek life and Philadelphia’s bar scene. Playboy also commended UPenn’s Spring Fling, an outdoor music festival with “school-sponsored day drinking,” according to the magazine.

Besides UPenn, the other schools featured, in order of party-skills, were: the University of Wisconsin, West Virginia University, the University of Arizona, the University of Iowa, the University of California Santa Cruz, the University of Miami, Colorado State University, the University of Texas, and Syracuse University.

West Virginia University fell to the number three spot this year after being ranked first last year. Playboy’s list did not mention why the Mountaineers fell two spots this year.

Playboy’s list is featured online as well as in the October 2014 print edition.
