VIDEO: Alinsky's Eighth Rule

By Timothy Dionisopoulos, on October 31, 2011

Since the 1960's, far left activists have constantly kept their conservative opponents on the defensive.  By relentlessly pursuing your political opponents on a specific issue, you force them to crack under the pressure.

Use different tactics and actions to maximize the events occurring around you to their full benefit.  Make sure that your opponents know that you are constantly on the prowl.  It is crucial you use a diverse set of tactics so that your targets will have a difficult time predicting just how you will act.

A recent example comes from, Clarion University, where the faculty union encouraged students to attend protest against budgetary cuts.  The faculty members criticized Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett's plan, and hyperbolically stated that the educational cuts would force a tuition raise.

Alinsky's Rule #7 is "A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag."

Alinsky felt that no matter how interesting or pertinent an issue, that your activists will only be able to concentrate on it for a small window amount of time.

Everyone knows that college campuses are overwhelmingly liberal.  No one is going to be surprised that your professors are going to let their biases run wild in the classroom, or that liberals dominate campus life.

Don't sit around and rehash the old refrain about your campus being liberal.  Expose the left on your campus, and let their behaviors be judged by a mass audience.

Alinsky’s Rule #6 is “A Good Tactic Is One Your People Enjoy.”

Alinsky felt that if the people you are leading are not having fun with what they are doing, then you are not doing it right.

Your political activism should be not only within the comfort zone of those within your movement, but also within their range of interest.  The best types of activism are judged on the number of attendees, and the intensity of their participation.

If your people enjoy the tactic, it will make it that much more effective.

The administrators at the University of Kentucky did not anticipate that banning smoking on campus would become grounds for a mass political protest.

VIDEO: Leftist Student Senator Treads on Liberty Activist

By Adam Weinberg, on October 12, 2011

I want to tell you a story about Ben Roden and the left-wing hostility he encountered on his first day as a campus activist. Ben is a gentleman - as nice and polite as a person can be. Everyone who knows him at Riverside Community College and nearby Moreno Valley College in Southern California seems to like him.

But now that Ben wants to start a chapter of Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) to defend his small-government, constitutionalist beliefs on campus, he's being verbally attacked and threatened with discrimination for his views.

He's even being branded a racist, just for displaying the Gadsden Flag, the "Don't Tread On Me" flag that is an icon of our country's history and revolutionary spirit.

But that's par for the course on many campuses today. What's outrageous is that the person responsible for pushing Ben around is Daniel Ortiz, a student government Senator who does not run from describing himself as a Marxist.

Instead of representing students like Ben, he repeatedly used his office as an excuse to intimidate and threaten.
