Students Organize Ceremony to Honor Vets

By Phil Cleary, on November 04, 2011

November 10th is the birthday of the USMC and November 11th is Veterans Day.  In honor of these dates, many college's host an event to celebrate America's men and women in uniform.

Although Gustavus Adolphus College has prepared many servicemen and servicewomen for a career of service through its Army ROTC program, as well as by historically being one of 131 colleges which participated in the Navy's V-12 College Training Program during WWII, the College does not have a Veteran's Day Event planned.

Che Guevara was a radical communist and mass murderer.  Thousands of men, women, and children died at his hands. Millions of others were forced into the iron fist of communist tyranny as a result of his "revolutionary" efforts throughout Latin America.

Conservative Comedian Steven Crowder Visits Gustavus.

By Phil Cleary, on October 17, 2011

There are many reasons for conservative students to host a speaker on their campus.

For example, bringing a speaker to campus can be educational, entertaining, and fun; all while earning your group publicity and providing opportunities for recruitment and PR.

Students at Gustavus Adolphus College brought in Steven Crowder to the campus on the evening of Thursday, October 6.

Crowder is "Fox News' brightest, funniest young Conservative mind," and is a mainstay in the worlds of television, comedy, and writing.  He is also one of Fox News' youngest contributors on record, and he features a unique brand of take-no-prisoners, politically incorrect, comedy-club-favorite humor.

Crowder was a lot of fun, and it offered students the opportunity to look at tough issues from a fresh perspective.

Email Raises New Question: Did Jack Ohle Keep his Word?

By Phil Cleary, on September 20, 2011

I dug up an email from last year that was written by a person who was an ELCA Bishop and who served as a Gustavus Board of Trustee member for twenty years.  The email reads:

"I want to thank you again for forwarding that email about Freshman Orientation at Gustavus. I want to bring you up to date on developments since then..."

"...Today Dr. Jack Ohle, president of the college, called to assure me that they are looking into the matter and will take steps to make certain this does not happen again."

Enough is Enough: Release the Footage!

By Phil Cleary, on September 06, 2011

On Sunday, September 04, 2011 I attempted to view Gustavus Adolphus College's freshman orientation program.  After the national media frenzy that surrounded the expose' of the incredibly left leaning lectures of the previous year's orientation, I wanted to observe whether the changes promised by administrators would be instituted.

Just as I took my seat to observe the show, the Director of Diversity Programs at Gustavus Adolphus College escorted me out of the school's freshman orientation seminar before it began.

What were they trying to prevent me from seeing?  Is there something that goes on behind the closed doors of Freshman Orientation that they don't want anybody to find out about?

The VP of Student Life did everything she could to avoid giving me a straight answer regarding whether the seminars have changed since last year. She was adamant about not talking to me in greater detail unless it was under the condition that the information wouldn't go out to any radio hosts or internet blogs.
