Radical Socialist Cornel West to Speak at GWU

By Brittney Morrett, on November 28, 2011

Does The George Washington University have a leftist political agenda?

The school named after the father of our country employs overt Communists that speak at left-wing conferences, allows school employees to agitate against conservatives, and has a history bringing prominent leftists to campus.

Julian Bond (who habitually compares conservatives to Nazis), Rahm Emanuel, Michelle Obama, and Madeline Albright are just a few of the radical left-wing demagogues that GWU has hosted as commencement speakers in recent years.  Where are the conservative counterparts?

Of course, The George Washington University has decided to up the extremism ante by hosting Cornel West

Cornel West, a self proclaimed socialist, was recently in the news for telling black Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain to "get off the symbolic crack pipe."

West is more respectful towards the Revolutionary Communist Party and its weird personality cult around Bob Avakian, a group which openly defends the genocidal policies of Mao Zedong.

Latino Heritage Celebration Boasts Leftist Tony Plana as Keynote Speaker

By Brittney Morrett, on September 09, 2011

Diversity of skin color is good, but diversity of thought is bad.

That is the message sent to students by The George Washington University Multicultural Student Services Center (GWMSSC). For the third year in a row, the keynote speaker chosen for Latino Heritage Celebration (LHC) is a leftist activist. Once again, only radical, anti-American leftists can serve as “authentic” members of the multicultural community.

In recent years the LHC has had an incredibly left wing stance, even going so far as proposing international murderer Che Guevara as the background image for the 2009 promotional posters

It's disconcerting that Guevara, who wrote paeans to hatred as a revolutionary virtue, presided over Cuba's first labor camps and firing squads, would be picked as a model Latino.

It's also ironic that a multicultural student services center would pick a figurehead that called blacks "indolent" and " lazy", and promised the revolution would do "nothing" for blacks.

In 2009, Dolores Huerta, co-founder of United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez and a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, was the keynote speaker. In her speech she outraged numerous students by idolizing Hugo Chavez and the Castro brothers. Several students, including the campus based group GW Students for a Free Cuba, walked out of her speech in disgust that she would glorify such controversial figures.

VIDEO: Outnumbered Conservative Students Hold Their Own

By Brittney Morrett, on August 31, 2011

Che Guevara was a murderer.  I love capitalism.  9/11 Never Forget.  These were just a few of the signs held by members of The George Washinton University's Young America's Foundation (GWYAF) at their student organization fair last night.

GWUYAF activists, some of which were trained by the Leadership Institute, held a successful tabling event where they signed up over 100 students in under two hours.  This was despite the fact that their table was surrounded by liberal groups such as GW Allied in PrideNOW GWVoices for Choices, and more.

Of course, not everyone who passed by was happy to see GWYAF.  Several leftist students heckled the club.

A male student from NOW GW ran up to the table and yelled incomprehensible epithets about "killing Native Americans" in a response to GWYAF's poster calling Che Guevara a murderer. Another random student said that the "I Love Capitalism" sign was offensive because it implied that other student groups dislike capitalism.

Just a bit of reading to combat the leftist falsities....

A spectre is haunting Europe – the spectre of communism. All the powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Pope and Tsar, Metternich and Guizot, French Radicals and German police-spies.

Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as communistic by its opponents in power? Where is the opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of communism, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries?

Two things result from this fact:

Combat Attrition!

By , on April 25, 2011

This May hundreds of conservative clubs will die or become inactive due to the graduation of a leader.  Attrition of leadership affects every group on the planet and it is the leader’s responsibility to solve this problem.

Some leaders may think a group dying after their tenure is a testament to their wonderful leadership skills.  They may say, “Only I could lead this group and when I’m gone, no one can live up to the high bar I set!”  This person is dead wrong and not a real leader.  A real leader should not be judged solely on what they accomplish during their time in charge, but also their effectiveness in the long run.

A leader should always work to expand the number of leaders within an organization.  Here are two ways to expand the leadership.

1.     Identify individuals who could potentially become effective leaders.

There isn’t a full proof formula to identifying leaders, but there are a few characteristics that are far more important than good looks, intelligence, wealth, or popularity.  Students who show sustained enthusiasm, the ability to work with others, and a strong work ethic are the people you want to lead.

·       Sustained enthusiasm:  Consider people with sustained enthusiasm the Minute Men or Paul Revere’s of your organization.  They will volunteer and work for your cause at a moments notice; they can be reached at any hour of the day, and are willing to work past 3:00 am to finish an assignment or project.

·       Ability to work with others:  Being a team player and balancing various personalities with the group is a valuable asset in a potential leader.

·       Strong work ethic:  A good leader should be willing and excited to work “in the trenches” to help any organization succeed.  It is very difficult to teach this trait.

2.     Provide them with training and experiences to help them mature as leaders.

Affirmative Action Bake Sale Causes a Stir

By Brittney Morrett, on March 31, 2011

Is it ever ok to discriminate based on race or gender?

The hosts of the Affirmative Action Bake Sale said no. Some members of The George Washington University (GWU) multicultural community said yes.

On Monday, March 28, the GWU chapter of the Young America's Foundation (GWYAF) and the GW College Republicans (GWCRS) hosted an affirmative action bake sale. The satirical event took place in the Mid-Campus Quad from 11am-3pm and University Police were present. Baked goods were sold and the group raised $47.00 for the troops at the event.

A price list posted charged different amounts based on the race of the patron. The point was to show how offensive it is to base anything, like admissions, on race.  The prices were as follows:

Asians - $1.25 (Asians being the most negatively affected by affirmative action), Whites - $1.00, Latinos - $.75, Blacks and Women - $.50, and Native Americans - $.25.

However, all baked goods were sold at the "Human Special" of $1.00 regardless of race, gender, background, or belief. Some of the homemade signs held by the students said, "Affirmative Action is Racist" and "Racism is Always Wrong."

The most interesting part of the event was not the actual bake sale. It was who attended and what they said.

GWU Hosts Radical Feminist Leadership Conference

By Brittney Morrett, on March 18, 2011

"Pro-life, that's a lie, You don't care if women die!"

That is one of the radical chants provided to attendees of the Feminist Majority Foundation's National Young Feminist Leadership Conference this past weekend at The George Washington University (GWU).  Held in the Marvin Center on campus, swarms of self-proclaimed feminists congregated for a weekend of panels and workshops on promoting the pro-choice agenda and other far-left ideas.

The typical attendee was female, wearing pro-choice pins, and a "This is What a Feminist Looks Like" t-shirt. More than a few decided to attend barefoot.

Speakers included Eleanor Smeal, President of the Feminist Majority Foundation; Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, DC Representative; Tina Tchen, Chief of Staff to Michelle Obama; Terry O'Neil, President of the National Organization for Women; and Steph Herold, the creator of "I am Dr. Tiller".

The main issue focused on during the conference was that of promoting abortion. Almost every speaker touched on the topic and advocated for far-left policies.

One speaker called Dr. Tiller "a kind of abortion god who stood for justice, peace, and compassion." Another said that promoting abstinence makes no sense while HIV/AIDS is such a problem. Radical rhetoric was not in short supply.

Gender Neutral Housing

By Amanda Prevette, on December 09, 2010

One of Morton Blackwell's list of 47 Leftist Abuses and Bias on Campus includes the elimination of single-sex bathrooms in dormitories or establishment of special bathrooms for the "transgendered." The same can be applied to the housing policies on campus.

George Mason recently released a press release about applying gender-neutral housing to the campus starting in the fall of 2011.
