Mike Newbern, the President of Buckeyes for Concealed Carry on Campus at Ohio State University, has been under vicious attack ever since his wrongful detainment while attending a candlelight vigil for Trayvon Martin.

Specifically, the Department of African American and African Studies, whom started a hate crime petition and made an official statement against Mike, and Lauren Michelle Kinsey of Plunderbund, made the two most scathing remarks, calling Mike a "hate criminal".

However, after an op-ed that ran in the Ohio Dispatch, that called out Plunderbund for it's inflamatory remarks, and Mike's meeting with members of the OSU group 'Stand Your Ground', Kinsey has decidedly changed her tone.

Ohio State University Police detained and drew their weapons on student-activist Mike Newbern for demonstrating his support for gun rights by wearing an empty holster to a candlelight vigil for Trayvon Martin on Wednesday.

Newbern, the president of Buckeyes for Concealed Carry, was taken forcibly into police custody just after 8:30 p.m., while he was standing at the front of the crowd wearing an empty holster, which was clearly visible on his belt, and with his hands crossed in front of his chest.

A police report released on Thursday indicates two officers drew their firearms before approaching Newbern and removing him from the vigil. They searched and questioned Newbern and confiscated his personal belongings, including his empty holster and camera case, before placing him handcuffed in the back of a cruiser for 30 minutes.

For Students at Ohio State University, this seems to be the case.

After a series of standoffs between Ohio State University officials and Buckeyes for Concealed Carry on Campus over whether or not concealed carry should be implemented as a safety feature at Ohio State University, comments by President Gordon Gee have led to an inevitable hostility towards the student group and its leader Mike Newbern.
