During the first week of November two events will be held at the University of Oklahoma and Langston University by the Young Conservatives of Oklahoma to promote education reform. These events will be the first of their kind and will target bipartisan audiences as they seek to promote policies that will benefit Oklahoma's most valuable asset - students.

University of Oklahoma Campus Profile

By Tony Listi, on January 17, 2011

This post was inspired by CampusReform.org's guide to the nation's top 100 colleges. Each profile examines the political climate on the campus and offers items of interest to conservative students, parents, and alumni. Click here to see the full list of college profiles.

The University of Oklahoma at Norman (OU) is a public university, founded in 1890. The university enrolls more than 30,000 students. Notable graduates include J. C. Watts and Senator Tom Coburn.

Campus Life

The number of liberal student groups outnumber the conservative groups on campus.

There are at least 15 active liberal student groups on campus: ACLU; Amnesty International; American Constitution Society; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Friends; Green Week; Muslim Student Association; Our Earth; Sooners for Campus Progress; Sooners for Peace in Palestine; NAACP; Students for a Democratic Society; Students Against a Factory-Farming Economy; United Students; Young Democrats; and Women's and Gender Studies Student Association.

There are ten conservative student groups on campus: College Republicans, Constitutional Studies Student Organization, Second Amendment Club, Sooners for Israel, The Federalist Society, Pro-Life Ambassadors, Eden on Campus, Intelligent Design and Evolution Awareness Club, Young Conservatives of Oklahoma, and Winston Churchill Society. The six italicized groups are affiliated with CampusReform.org's Campus Leadership Program, which provides student groups with advice, assistance, and many kinds of support.

The Young Conservatives of Oklahoma (YCO) chapter has been active on campus.

  • It created a Graveyard of American Liberties. The tombstones read "Rest in Peace" for the Constitution, the free market, and American Liberties, each killed by the left respectively in 1912 with Woodrow Wilson's presidency, 2007 with the bailouts, and 2008 with the presidency of Barack Obama. YCO also recruited 40 more students.
  • The YCO has also hosted a few speakers on campus including Herman Cain and Dinesh D'Souza.

Coming off of a day of spectacular recruitment yesterday, the Young Conservatives of Oklahoma (YCO) at the University of Oklahoma, led by Tyler Roberts, did some tabling and set up a Graveyard of American Liberties.

Young Conservatives of OK Boosts Membership

By Tony Listi, on November 04, 2010

With the help of CampusReform.org field staff, the Young Conservatives of Oklahoma at the University of Oklahoma (OU) donned a makeshift sandwich board to recruit over 120 students in one day.

For a place like Norman, Oklahoma, it was a little surprising how many liberals there are on this campus. We got a wide variety of responses, from enthusiastic to obscenely rude gestures and comments.

"Today was a great success! The sandwich board technique was very effective," said Tyler Roberts, president of the Young Conservatives Oklahoma chapter at OU.

Student Cartoonist: Jesus Would Be Arrested in AZ for Not Being White

By Tony Listi, on November 01, 2010

The new Arizona law ordering police to ask people to prove they are a citizen after lawful contact(!) has the left in a tizzy. Many college students are falling for these false accusations of racism. One student cartoonist in particular at The OU Daily is drinking the Kool-aid pretty heavily.

His cartoon features Jesus being arrested by Arizona police because he is a "brown guy." The message is basically that Arizonans have an "odd fear of people who aren't white" and that white Canadians evoke no fear.

Oh really? Couldn't be that illegal immigrants from the south drain state and local public finances through their use of welfare handouts fraud, schools, hospitals, jails, etc.?? Last time I checked, there weren't millions of Canadians flooding over our northern border straining state budgets.

Is your campus newspaper towing the liberal line on this issue? Fight back!

Tired of Your Biased Student Paper? Start Your Own!

By Tony Listi, on December 16, 2009

As far as I can tell, the OU Daily has no conservative writers or stories.

A quick review of past articles shows excuse-making for President Obama, criticism of Obama because he is not left-wing enough, unqualified opposition to the PATRIOT Act, climate hoax huckstering, and shilling for so-called "fair" trade.

No wonder the media is so leftist! Mainstream media bias begins in college. And no wonder conservatives keep losing political battles! Young Americans have been indoctrinated with leftist lies and half-truths and then vote based on those lies and half-truths.

You can put an end to the bias by becoming the major media outlet on your campus! Start your own conservative student publication that can...

Leftists Oppose Constitution Institute and Conservative Professor at OU

By Tony Listi, on October 19, 2009

The leftist group Students for a Democratic Society at the University of Oklahoma opposed the creation of the Institute for American Constitutional Heritage last spring and now they are taking aim at Professor Kyle Harper, a conservative, who was appointed to lead the new institute, reports the OU Daily.
