By Michael Armstrong, on April 18, 2012

Alex Epstein, Founder and Director of the Center for Industrial Progress (http://centerforindustrialprogress.com/), spoke about energy and environmentalism at three universities on the East Coast.

On Monday, April 2nd, Epstein addressed a crowd at the University of North Carolina.  His speech, "The Green Blackout", explained how green energy policies were harming both America's economy and environment.

Penn State Young Americans for Freedom Stand Up to Occupy PSU

By CRO Staff, on November 04, 2011

November 3, the Penn State Young Americans for Freedom came out to protest the now three-week-long "occupy PSU."  Describing the movement as "essentially squatters," chapter President Samuel Settle felt it was time to make a stand.

The counterprotest did not go unnoticed, as the local television and print media attended.  Overall, the event was a great victory the "right" view on things!

"Palestinian Wall of Lies" Sparks Controversy at PSU

By Michael Armstrong, on April 06, 2011

"It's f***ing lies. It's what the media tells you guys and you guys believe in this bulls**t"

Those were the words of a pro-Palestinian student as he confronted members of Penn State's Young Americans for Freedom (YAF).

On March 31, the conservative group erected the "Palestinian Wall of Lies" outside the university's HUB Student Center.  The "wall" - a 10-by-10 foot sign - listed ten myths regarding Palestine and the existence of the Israeli state.

Members of the organization passed out further information and engaged fellow students in conversation as they passed by.  According to YAF, a group of Jewish students visited the demonstration at one point to express their support.

Not everyone had a positive reaction to the display.

PSU YAF honors Reagan

By Kevin DeAnna, on February 07, 2011

For American conservatives of any age, the model will always be Ronald Reagan.  The Great Communicator brought the message of limited government, traditional values, and a strong national defense to a country suffering under Jimmy Carter's stagflation and malaise.  The country he loved loved him back, sending him for a second term with a 49 state victory in 1984 to complete his mission of restoring America's greatness at home and abroad.

PSU YAF Exposes Obama's Phony Energy Plan

By Kevin DeAnna, on February 07, 2011

Pennsylvania is a state that prides itself on its blue collar roots.  Jobs in coal and steel are as much a symbol of the state as the Pittsburgh Steelers or "Rocky."  However, President Obama continues to promote policies that would destroy the state's (and the country's) economic foundation.

President Obama came to Pennsylvania State University (PSU) on Thursday, February 4, touting a new energy plan that emphasizes large subsidies for solar power and "green jobs."  The problem is that this isn't new at all.  It is a rehash of what socialist governments in other nations have been trying, and it doesn't work.

A Spanish study from 2009 that examined that country's "green jobs" program concluded that for every "green job" created through government subsidies, 2.2 regular jobs were lost.  Furthermore, only 1 in 10 "green jobs" ends up being permanent.  Green jobs programs are a smoke and mirrors policy designed to conceal the truth from socialist failures at creating sustainable economic growth and job production.

A Day of Unity...or Division?

By Kevin DeAnna, on January 18, 2011

Martin Luther King Day is held to be a day of unity when all Americans can celebrate a message of racial equality and individual liberty.  Martin Luther King has come to symbolize America's striving for a color blind society where everyone is judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

Unfortunately, on far too many campuses, this is a day for division and radical left wing activity.  At Pennsylvania State University, the speaker chosen on this day of unity is Julian Bond.  Bond has said of conservatives demonstrating for fiscal responsibility --

We saw hate on display this summer in town halls and tea parties, subsidized by corporations and their well-funded fear machines across the country. Our politics have been poisoned by armed and paranoid self-described patriots, drawn from the Taliban wing of American politics, a true fright wing, once called Birchers, now birthers, spreading lies and spreading myths.

Semantics versus Substance

By CRO Staff, on September 29, 2010

After reading the previous post on this blog and watching the following video, I find myself severely disappointed by the young man who by making a post is representing the Penn State campus.  The video reveals a dialog in which the student refuses to make an argument.  Whenever he is pushed to defend or explain his position, he changes the subject in favor of arguing semantics.  The pompous ignorance that this student displays is outstanding.  I am dumbfounded that someone would post this video as a success, not realizing that he is humiliating himself.

Video: Penn State Professor Tells Conservative Students They're "Pathetic"

By Kevin DeAnna, on September 29, 2010

Members of Penn State Young Americans for Freedom protested Vice President Joe Biden at his campus visit today. YAFers explained that young people voted overwhelmingly for the Obama ticket, but the Obama/Biden administration has done for young people. Youth unemployment is over 50%.  Jobs are nonexistent.  Many college students are fearful that they will not be able to support themselves after graduation.

Penn State YAF had an enthusiastic reception from fellow students, many of whom signed up to join the group and asked questions about how to get involved in conservative activism on the campus.

The only real opposition came from union supporters who were brought in to fill up the venue.  (It's revealing that a visit from the vice president can not even fill up a venue on a college campus.

One older gentlemen told YAFers they should be drafted and sent into combat for daring to oppose the vice president.

Physics professor Steven Heppelmann angrily confronted Samuel Settle, Penn State senior and YAF president. Heppelmann accused Samuel of not wanting a "respectful dialogue" on economic policy.  Then, oblivious to the irony, he repeatedly called the student "pathetic" for dissenting from Obama's economic policies.  This did not prevent Settle from educating the professor on how low taxes and pro-growth policies help everyone.
