Halloween: The Redistribution of Candy Wealth
Every year children of all ages dress up and celebrate Halloween. And every year, Communism is alive and well in every country that celebrates it. Between the 1920s-1950s, vandalism started to creep into the Halloween celebrations as well as the re-emergence of trick or treating. Now it is a required element of the so-called holiday that trick or treaters receive candy from their neighbors. The words trick or treat, are a threat, not a request. What ever happened to saying Please, may I have some candy? Now, it is Trick or Treat, or translated, If you don't give me candy, I will vandalize your house. And Heaven help you if you buy the wrong candy or run out of candy before these hoodlums come to your door. Dissent against trick or treaters is not tolerated. You will be ostracized as a crazy, child hating, anti Halloween ideologue, and the media will probably run stories of you. How dare you not give candy to little children!
Hmmm, that sounds oddly familiar to what's happening in our country today. If you dare to have your own opinion of the proposed Communist Healthcare plan, and you stand up for what you believe in, you are deemed a racist, Nazi, and an Astroturfer. Some fear retribution, loss of employment, alienating others, so they quietly protest in their homes, but they are afraid to stand up in public. The same is for those who don’t want their houses toilet papered, egged, or worse. So instead of saying No to Free Candy Handouts, they comply to the threats of the candy dictators.
The current administration is filled with these delinquents knocking at our doors ready to trick us. In fact, the only thing they are doing these days is just that. Wouldn’t it be nice to actually receive a treat from your government oncein a while, like lower taxes, so you could keep some of your hard earned money for yourself? Take the proposed pledge of transparency. To anyone, Republican, Democrat, Independent, and anyone in between, this seemed like a great treat we would get. Barack Obama said "Let me say it as simply as I can. Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency." Where are the healthcare negotiations on Cspan? Where are the bills 5 days before the President signs them so we can read them? Where is that transparency? What about getting us out of the economic recession? We were told we had to pass the stimulus bill immediately so unemployment wouldn’t rise above 8%. Really? Has anyone else read the latest unemployment numbers? At least toilet paper and eggs can be cleaned up fairly easily. The government is tricking us with billions, if not trillions of dollars at stake as well as our financial stability and security.
According to the National Retail Foundation's 2009 Halloween survey, Americans over the age of 18 will spend approximately 4.75 Billion dollars for this one day holiday. These are the same people struggling to keep or find a job and pay their rent or mortgage, and put food on their tables. And because entitlement is becoming a way of life, millions of people will go door to door, demanding that strangers fulfill their candy needs. Candy that on any other day most parents aren't buying for their children cause its not healthy and cause its too expensive. Yet on this day, those that can afford the candy, are required to buy hoards of it and dutifully pass it out to anyone who knocks at their door. How about we teach kids about developing skills they can use in life to get a better job, about work ethic and about providing for themselves. Instead of giving out candy, why don’t you educate people about economics, taxes, big government, and maybe give them a copy of the US Constitution.
Defend Liberty. Defend Your Candy.
