CampusReform.org Offers $1000 Award for Constitution Day Activism on College Campuses
Arlington, Va. – College students across the country can celebrate the traditional meaning of the Constitution on Constitution Day, Sept. 17, with CampusReform.org if they enter a contest to win a $1,000 activism award.
CampusReform.org, a conservative social networking site presented by the Leadership Institute (LI) has offered the $1,000 award. The contest is planned to encourage college student groups to take part in Constitution Day activism supported by a U.S. mandate that all federally-funded schools offer a Constitution Day educational program. CampusReform.org has identified 14 campus events in Arizona, California, Indiana, Texas, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Wyoming, North Carolina and Missouri. All 14 groups are part of LI’s Campus Leadership Program.
As of Dec. 8, 2004, Public Law 108-447requires that “Each educational institution that receives Federal funds for a fiscal year shall hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 of such year for the students served by the educational institution.”
“Federally-funded schools are required to celebrate the Constitution each September,” explained Leadership Institute founder and president Morton Blackwell. “This is an excellent opportunity for conservative and libertarian student activists to stand up for their principles on campus and draw attention to the Constitution’s original meaning and leftists who so grossly violate it.”
Eligible campus groups can submit photos, videos and descriptions of their Constitution Day event from September 17-23 at CampusReform.org. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009. The winner will be selected for exceptional originality, controversy, educational and media tactics, planning and execution. Campus groups can visit CampusReform.org to download contest rules and more information.
