More than 40 Student Groups Join National Protest of Communist Policies on the Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall
Arlington, VA – Conservative and libertarian college students across the country coordinated a national day of activism on Monday, Nov. 9 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and raise awareness about communism. Working with CampusReform.org and Young Americans for Liberty, the students built mock Berlin Walls at their schools to protest America’s socialistic tendencies.
“This is an educational event,” said Trevor Leach, a CampusReform.org Field Representative from Syracuse University. “We took action across the country today to show fellow students that there are significant similarities between some of our current policies and the planks of the Communist Manifesto.”
CampusReform.org National Director Bryan Bernys explained that the nation-wide activism project was inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall but “looks to the future, not just back at the past. These student activists are asking their campuses to think about the comparisons among some of our current policies and the ten planks of communism.”
Student groups at over 40 schools took part in the protests, including: Arlington High School, Bentley University, California University of Pennsylvania, Central Michigan University, Clemson University, Concordia University, East Carolina University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Kansas State University, Liberty University, Louisiana State University, Middle Tennessee State University, Montana State University, Oklahoma State University, Ohio State University, Purdue University, Rutgers University, Southern Polytechnic, Stony Brook University, Texas State University, University of Buffalo, University of California-San Diego, University of California-San Marcos, University of Central Arkansas, University of Chicago, University of Connecticut, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Houston, University of Idaho, University of Indiana, University of Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, University of New Mexico, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, University of Reno Nevada, University of South Florida, University of Texas, University of Washington State, University of Wisconsin, University of Wyoming, Wheaton College.
