CUA to be Sued for Single-Sex Dorm Rooms?

As Kevin Deanna mentioned earlier this month, the Catholic University of America plans to eliminate co-ed housing for the incoming freshman class in hopes of reducing binge-drinking and casual hook-ups.

John Banzhaf, a law professor at George Washington University Law School, thinks this is a violation of the DC Human Rights Act and has threatened to sue CUA over its new dorm plan:

[The law], he argues “prohibits any discrimination based directly or indirectly upon sex, unless it is strictly necessary for the entity to remain in business.”
...The university said that it was “confident that the law does not require men and women be housed together in residence halls.”
