Ended unconstitutional anti-free speech ‘Green Zone’ in Ohio State Student Union

In the Fall of 2011, Andrew Yogmour, a college student at the University of Ohio State University decided to start a Young Americans for Freedom chapter.

Andrew created an aggressive recruitment plan in order to bolster the club’s membership.  One day while handing out flyers in the Ohio State University Student Union with other YAF members, a campus administrator approached and asked them to stop.

The administrator informed them that the Ohio Union was an environmental ‘Green Zone’ and that handing out flyers was strictly prohibited as the flyers were ‘pollutants’.

Andrew Yogmour contacted the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, whom wrote a letter informing the school of the severity of the situation and the blatant violation of free speech.

The university backed down, and has since changed their policy in the Union to allow groups to distribute their flyers.
