UCLA law prof: No gun laws will ever stop a ‘crazed madman from killing’

Gun control laws will never prevent a “crazed madman” from going on a killing spree, prominent UCLA Professor of Constitutional Law Adam Winkler argued on Monday.

UCLA law Professor Adam Winkler said gun control laws will never prevent a “crazed madman” from going on a shooting spree.

“I don’t think there’s any gun control law we can adopt that’s gonna stop a crazed madman from killing a lot of people,” he said, speaking on KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO.

Winkler was responding to a shooting that concluded at Santa Monica College last Friday and claimed five lives, including the life of the gunman.

The professor, and author of Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America, added that “if more people are armed, there’s likely to be someone who might stand up and defend themselves.”

Winkler did, however, contend that if the number of armed citizens increases, it would be more difficult for emergency responders to target the culprit.
