  • The college calls the event 'the hottest Christian New Year's Party in 2013'

Duck Dynasty's John Luke, Sadie, Reed and Cole Robertson will appear at Liberty University's Winterfest, a two-day New Year's Eve celebration at the conservative college in Lynchburg, Va.

Winterfest is scheduled for Dec. 30 and 31, and promises "action-packed days of high energy activities and entertainment, and life changing spiritual growth," according to the college's official website.

The reality television family has been the subject of controversy after remarks patriarch Phil Robertson made about homosexuality during an interview with GQ Magazine got him suspended earlier this month.

But the decision to invite the family to speak came long before the controversy.

"WOW!!! Look who is going to be at Liberty University for WinterFest 2013!!! Duck Dynasty kids!!! See Taylor this school knows how to PARTY!!! John Luke is CUTE!!!!! — with Taylor Newman," someone who identifies herself as Sara Newman posted on the event's official Facebook page on Aug. 7.

The event, which the school is calling "hottest Christian New Year's Party in 2013," will also feature Christian music acts, ice skating and " group sessions, designed to strategically challenge and strengthen your faith."
