Fmr Obama official, higher ed advocacy group president calls to overturn Trump policies
The American Council on Education wrote a letter, addressed to "President-Elect Joe Biden" and "Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris" asking them to reverse Trump's education policy.
The letter outlined nine different steps the group hopes will be taken as they pertain to education.
The American Council on Education wrote a letter, addressed to “President-Elect Joe Biden” and “Vice President-Elect Harris” on November 18 outlining a series of policies they would like the administration to overturn or consider modifying.
ACE is a membership organization that “mobilizes the higher education community to shape effective public policy and foster innovative, high-quality practice.”
It also “convenes, organizes, mobilizes, and leads advocacy efforts that shape effective public policy and help colleges and universities best serve their students, their communities, and the wider public good.”
The letter read in part, “we believe that the Biden administration should take immediate action in a number of areas to terminate, revise, or replace a number of decisions that the Trump administration has put in place regarding higher education.”
They include but are not limited to: reinstating the Obama-era guidance on the use of race in admissions, repealing the president’s Executive Order on Race and Sex Stereotyping, and withdrawing the proposed regulations that would limit an international student’s “duration of status” and create a fixed duration of admission.
Campus Reform reached out to the American Council on Education for further comment; however, a response was not received in time for publication.
