Prof who tweeted NRA death threat now claims GOP only wants membership of ‘old rural white’ people

The same professor who gained national attention last year for tweeting death threats on NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre, turned to his blog late last month to accuse Republicans of intentionally excluding minorities from their party.

Professor Erik Loomis turned to his online blog to attack the GOP and accuse them of intentionally excluding minorities from the party.

“I know the central mission of the Republican Party is to have a membership made up entirely of old rural white people,” wrote University of Rhode Island history professor Erik Loomis in the Jan. 2nd post.

Loomis’ comments came days after Republican Governor Nikki Haley appointed Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) to serve as the only African-American in the U.S. Senate and just the seventh black senator from any region of the country to serve in the upper chamber.

The professor made the remark in the context of an attack on Republican leaders in the House for reluctance to schedule a vote on a Hurricane Sandy relief package which many perceived as bloated with earmarks and non-related spending.

Loomis appeared to have reactivated his twitter account after he temporarily disabled following a firestorm of controversy that ensued after he leveled a death threat at NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre.

He has since used the popular social website to respond to poll numbers showing that most Americans support the use of drones saying, “Americans like killing if it comes without risk.”

Loomis also recently appeared on David Schuster’s online show where he doubled down on his position to abolish the second amendment.

He had earlier tweeted he favors repealing the amendment because he thinks doing so will help prevent mass murders from happening.
