University president carjacked during attempted sexual rendezvous

A university president in Florida has been suspended after being carjacked during what police believe was an attempted sexual rendezvous with two female “friends.”

Matt McEnany, president of Keiser University’s Daytona Beach campus, reported the incident to police in a 9-1-1 call placed late Sunday night, claiming that he was accosted while picking up two female friends who needed a ride, ClickOrlando.com reports.

The 60-year-old McEnany told police that he was meeting his friends “Luscious” and “Brittany,” both reported to be in the early 20’s, in order to give them a ride from their grandmothers’ houses.

“I had two supposedly [sic] friends of mine needed a ride,” he explained during the call. “I pulled up here and I got out of the car and some black guy jumps me. He throws me down to the ground and starts kicking me and the two girls and the guy get in to my car and take off with it, my wallet, everything.”

McEnany noted that he was also robbed of $100 cash that had been in his pocket, which he claimed to be carrying in order “to pay a bill.”

When questioned by the dispatcher, McEnany conceded that the two women “must have” been involved in the robbery, though according to the police incident report, he maintained during subsequent conversations with police that he was familiar with both individuals, having “met the females a few months prior when he gave them a ride from their broken down vehicle to an unknown location on N Beach St.”

The report further relates the description offered by the sole witness, who claims that she was standing in her yard when she observed the victim standing in the roadway with three other individuals. The witness stated that she believed the four were “only playing” until McEnany “started swiping at his legs like they were covered in bugs and started screaming for help.”

Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood lent additional clarity to the incident Monday, telling The Daytona Beach News-Journal that he believes McEnany “had every intention of having a rendezvous with these women.”

“As a matter of fact you could call it a sexual rendezvous,” he added unambiguously.

A statement released by Keiser University confirms that the school is aware of “an allegation of a serious nature” being leveled against McEnany, and asserts that he has been suspended “pending a thorough and comprehensive investigation.”

The Daytona Beach Police Department is declining to release McEnany’s official statement, noting that is part of an ongoing investigation.
