Tomato thrown at Charlie Kirk memorial, police officer swiftly intervenes

After a tomato was thrown at a Turning Point USA table and a memorial for Charlie Kirk, a nearby law enforcement officer was able to take immediate action.

A memorial to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at a Towson University event was disrupted Wednesday when an individual hurled a tomato at a display honoring the conservative activist.

The moment a Towson University police officer intervened and isolated the suspect was captured on video.

The memorial, set up at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) student chapter table, featured a framed “rest in peace” tribute to Kirk, who was assassinated during his “American Comeback” tour earlier this fall.

The table was approved by the university and operating at the scheduled time, but a source told Campus Reform that students were only active for an hour before protesters arrived.

The disruption came suddenly, and multiple people reportedly began to throw tomatoes at the students and their table. A photo submitted to Campus Reform shows several tomatoes on the ground at the event.

One protester stopped close to the display and appeared to throw a tomato directly at the framed memorial. The produce splattered, getting pulp and juice on the clothing of one TPUSA member.

A campus police officer stationed nearby immediately moved in, escorting the individual who allegedly threw the tomato away from the TPUSA booth while students addressed the mess.

The memorial disruption comes amid heightened tensions nationwide following Kirk’s killing, which drew both mourning and controversy on college campuses.

Several professors and student groups have publicly mocked or dismissed his death, fueling concerns about political bias in academia.

Some colleges have responded by firing professors or expelling students who mocked the murder of Kirk.
