Young Conservatives of Oklahoma to Host School Choice Events
During the first week of November two events will be held at the University of Oklahoma and Langston University by the Young Conservatives of Oklahoma to promote education reform. These events will be the first of their kind and will target bipartisan audiences as they seek to promote policies that will benefit Oklahoma's most valuable asset - students.
The first event will be held in the Associates Room of the Oklahoma Memorial Union at the University of Oklahoma on November 2 at 6:30pm and will be cosponsored with the OU Young Democrats. Speaking will be Bob Bowdon, an award winning documentary filmmaker who produced and directed The Cartel and Larry Sand, director of the California Teachers Empowerment Network.
On November 3 at 6:30pm a second event will take place at the Langston University - OKC Auditorium also featuring Bob Bowdon and Larry Sand in addition to Brandon Dutcher, the Vice President of Policy at the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs.
The events will highlight education policies that seek to give both parents and students more choices and opportunities to meet their educational needs. In Bob Bowdon's documentary, The Cartel, viewers are given an unforgettable look at the educational failures and frustrations of individual communities. The film's message is that if we care about our children's futures, we must insist upon far-reaching and immediate reform NOW.
Asked about what inspired the Young Conservatives of Oklahoma to host such events the organization's founders, Tyler Roberts and Taylor Stair, had this to say, "As avid followers of politics there is only one issue we can always wholeheartedly stand behind - school choice. We believe school choice policies if allowed to work will bring new life to American education and ensure American leadership throughout the 21st Century."
The events will be open to anyone interested in learning more about education reform. All questions and inquiries should be sent to email@example.com and more information can be found on the Young Conservatives of Oklahoma Facebook page and website at www.ycok.org.
