'That's the echo chamber': Cabot Phillips reacts to students supporting impeachment without knowing why
Campus Reform Editor-in-Chief Cabot Phillips said Friday that it's no surprise students want impeachment, despite not being able to name a reason.
Phillips said that when students live in echo chambers like on college campuses, they are unable to explain why they believe what they do.
Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips says it's no surprise that students support President Donald Trump's impeachment without knowing why.
Phillips recently traveled to Marymount University in Virginia to ask students there whether they support House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launching an official impeachment inquiry into Trump and his discussions with the Ukraine president regarding former Vice President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden.
Phillips joined Fox & Friends on Friday to discuss the fact that every student with whom he spoke supported impeachment, but when asked what action the president has taken that would warrant impeachment, those same students were unsure.
"Whenever students are presented with a question, they're always going to default to the liberal position because that's the echo chamber they live in on college campuses and the problem with living in an echo chamber is, often, you're unable to explain why you believe what you do," Phillips said.
This isn't the first time students have demonstrated a lack of knowledge regarding political viewpoints they initially expressed or supported.
Campus Reform previously asked students whether they supported Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's "Green New Deal." The majority of those students said that they did support the plan, but were much less certain of their position after learning what exactly is in the proposal.
In another case, students blamed Trump for the government shutdown but only before hearing about the offer he made to Democrats. And in yet another instance, students slammed Trump over what they thought were his quotes on a border wall and illegal immigration, only to later find out that Democrats made the statements.
